About Me
I was born on
My family which comprised of my parents, seven brothers, five sisters, myself, grandmother and other family members shared a “Sidney Williams” hut located in an ex-Army camp known as Parap Camp (which is now a suburb of Darwin called Stuart Park).
I am of mixed nationalities – Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, Filipino, Chinese and Malayan – many of whose customs and traditions I cherish and appreciate.
I was educated at St Mary’s School by The Sisters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Order.
In the years since leaving school, I became a small business owner/operator/director in Insurance Loss Adjusting, retail shops, martial arts and real estate.
Sports, particularly hockey and basketball, were an integral part of my life. I became a sports administrator, representative player, coach and referee.
I was honoured to be the Chairperson of the inaugural Arafura Games in 1991, and have been Chairperson, organizer/coordinator in numerous other sporting events.
Highlights include being awarded The Order of Australia Medal, the Australian Sports Medal and being inducted into the Northern Territory Sports Hall of Fame.
My interests include mentoring and helping others – especially young people to set and achieve goals; researching history; sports, dressmaking, writing; gardening; spending time with my family.
My husband and I have 5 children and 8 grandchildren.
